No Coal in Oakland invites you and your congregation to be present as Faith Witnesses at the up-coming court hearing Thursday April 20, 2017, 10am, as the City of Oakland defends its ban on coal.

It is important that we, the faith community, demonstrate to Tagami and his legal team, the judge, the community, and the press that we do not want coal trains in Oakland.

Join us at the U.S. Courthouse, 450 Golden Gate Avenue, 17th floor, Courtroom 4, San Francisco (6 blocks from Civic Center BART). Please allow extra time to get through security.  Silence is expected in the courtroom.  There will be a debrief outside the Courthouse after the hearing. Please wear red in solidarity. Faith leaders, please wear your spiritual apparel.

Even though it is a season of renewal, please remind your congregation that coal is not a step toward renewal but a step back to dark, destructive, and deadly times. We want to activate the renewal of a peaceful relationship of humans with Earth and the Earth community.

Also, please sign this open letter to Phil Tagami that asks him to dismiss his lawsuit against Oakland: http://nocoalinoakland.info/open-letter-to-phil-tagami/

Please RSVP to me, Allysyn, at Allysyn@sonic.net, if you wish, so we can get a head-count for Thursday.

Thank you,

Allysyn Kiplinger
