Any time is a good time for spreading the Good News, but now is an especially opportune time when Reconciling Congregations can make up for the oppressive rhetoric that many LGBTQ persons associate with Christianity. Now, while there is so much publicity out there from the parts of Christianity that are not welcoming and affirming, shouldn’t we be sending out an authentic message of Christian love?

To help your church get the word out, you have an opportunity to attend a free one-day workshop on engaging the media. The workshop is presented by GLAAD and is titled Media Advocacy for People of Faith. After attending this workshop, we should be better equipped to make use of the media to reach out from our congregations to our communities. Consider joining us at this workshop presented by GLAAD. For over 30 years, GLAAD has been at the forefront of cultural change, accelerating acceptance for the LGBTQ community. They are widely known for their “Media Awards” which are held annually in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Check out their website.

The Media Advocacy for People of Faith workshop will be held at the Walnut Creek UMC (1543 Sunnyvale Avenue, Walnut Creek, CA 94597) on Sunday, September 16, 2018. Sign-in time will be from 12:30 to 1:00pm with light refreshments served. The workshop time is from 1PM to 5PM. Register here.
