Our nation is witnessing a massive corruption of the presidency and our government, far worse than Watergate. By refusing to divest fully from his business interests, President Donald Trump has been in direct violation of the US Constitution from the moment he took the oath of office.

We must not allow President Trump to profit from the presidency at the expense of our democracy, and in violation of our Constitution. Space is limited, so come early to get a seat.

Participants:

  • Jovanka Beckles, Richmond City Councilmember
  • John Bonifaz, President, Free Speech for People
  • Ben Clements, Board Chair, Free Speech for People
  • Eva Paterson, Bay Area Civil Rights Attorney and Activist
  • Norman Solomon, Coordinator, RootsAction
  • Kris Welch, KPFA: emcee

Prominent civil rights attorneys and civic leaders will unravel the issues and politics surrounding the Trump presidency in this panel discussion sponsored by Impeach Trump Now, impeachdonaldtrumpnow.org.

Bay Area city councils in Richmond and Alameda were the first in the U.S. to pass resolutions calling on Congress to begin impeachment proceedings. “Richmond and Alameda are two of the countless communities nationwide where people are now looking at imminent dire consequences of extreme corruption at the top of the U.S. government,” says Norman Solomon, co-founder and coordinator of RootsAction.org.

The panel will examine the dangerous precedent set by a president who considers himself above the rule of law. The petition at ImpeachTrump Now has garnered more than 912,000 signatures, and thousands more sign on each day.
