During EBHO’s annual Interfaith Communites United Housing Sabbath, faith communities open their doors to residents, nonprofit affordable housing developers, housing activists and service providers to share the message that housing is a human right, and to help faith communities engage more deeply in expanding and preserving housing for all people.
How can you participate?
1) Recruit your faith community to be a Housing Sabbath congregation, incorporating the theme of housing justice into worship and/or inviting a speaker from EBHO to talk about the faith community’s role in addressing our current housing crisis.
2) Invite your faith community to participate in a study group on the theme of displacement as a faith issue, using the EBHO resource “The Courage of Faith: interfaith perspectives on displacement,” based on our December interfaith forum on displacement.
3) Volunteer to speak about your experience with affordable housing or the housing crisis at another congregation that weekend.
