Building a Bridge: LGBTQ Community and the Church

This retreat will be presented by Fr. Donal Godfrey, SJ of the University of San Francisco.

Fr. Godfrey’s 36 years as a Jesuit have included ministry with people living with AIDS in Toronto and San Francisco.  During graduate studies in Berkeley, Fr. Godfrey served as a deacon at Most Holy Redeemer Parish located in the Castro neighborhood of San Francisco. He wrote his doctoral dissertation about the parish, which later became the book entitled “Gays and Grays.”

This weekend will build upon the recent book by Fr. James Martin SJ entitled:  “Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity.”
